Religious Education
Religious Education:
At Cheadle Catholic we ‘Love and respect each other. We love to learn and let our inner light shine brightly in all that we do’. We also remember that , ‘We love because he first loved us.’ We aim to provide the very best Catholic education for our pupils. Cheadle Catholic is a learning community underpinned by a Catholic ethos based upon Gospel values. Through the general and prayer life of the school as well as Religious Education, we aim to celebrate the uniqueness of every child, enabling them to reach their potential spiritually, morally, academically and socially.
As a school located within the Diocese of Shrewsbury, we provide a curriculum for our children in line with the wishes of Bishop Mark. As part of this, we are currently journeying towards delivering the new directory, To Know you More Clearly and the scheme 'The Vine and the Branches'. The outcome of this excellent religious education is religiously literate and consciously engaged young people who have the knowledge, understanding, and skills, appropriate to their age and capacity, to reflect spiritually, and think ethically and theologically, and who recognise the demands of religious commitment in everyday life.
The scheme is divided into six Branches.
1.Creation and Covenant
2.Prophecy and Promise
3.Galilee to Jerusalem
4.Desert to Garden
5.To the Ends of the Earth
6.Dialogue and Encounter
For each of the six branches, there are five or six units. Each unit begins with Scripture and the whole scheme is based around listening to and becoming familiar with the Word of God.
During RE lessons, pupils are given the chance to consider discern questions. The children also enjoy the creative elements of RE lessons.
