Admissions

Admission Arrangements.

Cheadle Catholic Infant School is a happy school. It is a thriving and forward-looking school community, which endeavours to live up to its Mission Statement and the needs of the wider community. Currently, the majority of children admitted to the school are baptised Catholics but we also welcome non-Catholic children into our school. 
Cheadle Catholic Infant is situated in the Diocese of Shrewsbury and is maintained by Stockport Local Authority.

As a Voluntary Aided School, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. For the school year commencing September 2021 and 2022, the Governing Body has set its admissions number at 90 for reception and 40  nursery places (32  part-time and 8 full-time.)
Reception 
Children are admitted into Reception Classes in the September after their fourth birthday. Ninety places will be available for the reception age group in 2020 and 2021 academic year. Children transfer to Cheadle Catholic Junior School at the end of the school year in which they attain their seventh birthday. 
Nursery 
Children are admitted to nursery the academic year they would turn 4.  The school is able to offer 15 hours a week for 32 children and 30 hours a week for 8 children. Sixteen  places will be available for the beginning of the week (N1), a further sixteen places are available for the end of the week (N2) and 8 full time places are available for children who qualify for 30 hours.

 

Session times are:  
* N1 sessions: Monday – Tuesday 9am-3.15pm, Wednesday 9am-11.30am 
* N2 sessions: Wednesday 12.45-3.15pm, Thursday- Friday 9am-3.15pm 

* Full time sessions Monday-Friday  9am-3.15pm
 

Applications for September 2022.
All applications for a reception school place must be completed online directly to Stockport Local Authority by 15th January. 
All applications for a nursery place must be completed online directly to Stockport Local Authority by 31st March.

If you can’t access the online system from home, the facility is available from some of the many Information Centres across the Borough, or at Fred Perry House.

In-Year Applications

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places.  An application should be made to the school by completing the in-year admissions application form:

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for 2020/21 will be applied.

Over subscription Criteria 2021/22

 

  1. Looked after and previously looked after children. 
  2. Catholic children who are resident in the parishes of Christchurch, St. Ann’s, St Chad’s and that part of St Vincent’s formerly in St. Ann’s  and that part of St. John’s Parish that lies within Stockport boundary 
  3. Other Catholic children. 
  4. Any other children.

 

Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list.  Please see the admission arrangements for more details.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.  Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.
